How DRaX Works

Configure DRaX by identifying which node is the Master and Standby. A heartbeat tag is used for Wonderware I/O and error tag for the TOP Server. DRaX instances on clients monitor DRaX on the Master PC for any loss of communications. As long as they are good communications goes through the Master PC.

DRaX Features

  • Automatic Redundancy without InTouch Scripting
  • More then one Master and Slave can be used
  • Only 4 tags and one supplied script are needed
  • Redirection of Clients from Master to standby
    • If Master fails
    • If I/O Server fails
  • Works with more then one I/O Server or TOP Server Driver
    • Fail if one driver errors
    • Fail only if mulitple drivers fail

System Requirements

  • Wonderware InTouch 7.11 Patch 3 (or higher) or
  • Wonderware InTouch 8.0 SP2 or InTouch 9.0
  • Microsoft Windows NT 4.0 SP6a or higher (except Terminal Services) or
  • Microsoft Windows 2000 SP3, SP4 (including Terminal Services) or
  • Microsoft Windows XP Pro and XP Pro SP1
  • TCP/IP Protocol

If the ActiveX on the Clients can't communicate to the Master or the I/O Server shows a communication error all clients will automatically switch to the Standby PC for communications. Configure the timing to control how quickly a switch should be made on an error and how long the Standby I/O has to wait prior to starting to read tags.
