Now what if someone moves a device from one location in the plant to another, or they change which port it is connected to on the switch ? How do you know that now ? How does your system documentation get updated ?

With IntraVUE, the handling of moved devices is completely automatic. Lets look at an example.

  • In the screen below, a new device appeared at IP 10.1.1.204 connected to a switch at 10.1.1.8.
  • The new device appeared with a brown box
  • Right clicking on the device and choosing Event Log brought up the device event log.
  • The event log shows the device was connected to a switch at 10.1.1.4 port 3, then it was moved to the switch at 10.1.1.8 port 4, but then moved to port 1 on that same switch.
  • Since the connection to the new switch is still "unverified" by an Administrator. Once the new connection is verified, the device will show in blue.
