IntraVUE's Auto-Discovery, Mapping, and Maintenance are unique in the marketplace.  With a little effort, you can take the value delivered by your IntraVUE system to even higher levels through the Device Configuration dialogs for each discovered device. To do device setup, you must be logged in as an IntraVUE administrator. Then you can right click on a device from the IntraVUE views, and pick configure.  Once you have device configuration setup, Views, Event Logs and right clicking on a device become even more valuable as will be shown later in the tour.

On the Device Configuration dialogs you can:

  • Enter an application specific device name
  • Enter a device location
  • Specify if device is a wireless device (connections thus show as dashed lines)
  • Specify SNMP settings for the device to enable receipt of SNMP traps
  • Specify telnet or FTP connection settings for the device so IntraVUE end users can simply follow a link to access device specific features that may be reached by telnet or FTP.
  • Specifiy to send alarms for device disconnect, bandwidth usage, or other alarms
  • Specify an image to be shown in thumbnail view mode for the device
  • Specify a location view image
  • Specify a serial #, model #, asset tag, or other user defined text for a device
  • Provide hyperlinks to device vendor websites, manuals, or other documentation that will be accessible to IntraVUE users
