OPC to ODBC

How to get OPC data into Access and SQL Server databases

The OPC DataHub offers a rich scripting environment that includes an extensive ODBC library, which enables any OPC Server to send and receive data with relational database applications such as Access, MS SQL Server, Oracle and any other ODBC compliant database.

OPC_to_ODBC
  • Easy to follow code examples shows you how to write a simple script to log OPC data to an ODBC compliant database application.
  • Scripts can both read and write data to the database application.
  • The OPC server and ODBC database can be on the same computer or connected over a network. (If you encounter DCOM configuration problems while trying to connect to the remote OPC server, then you can use the OPC Tunnelling feature of the DataHub to quickly and easily avoid these problems.)
  • You can easily build scripts that perform scheduled data logging activities.
  • Scripts can also be attached to a specific data point, so that whenever the point changes, a record is added to the database application.
  • The OPC DataHub can also read and write data from DDE enabled applications (such as Excel or SCADA systems) and include this in the data set presented to the ODBC database application.

Supported Databases:
  • Microsoft Access
  • Oracle Database
  • Sybase
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • MySQL Server
  • Any other ODBC compliant database
