What is OPC UA?
The OPC UA standards are an evolution on the existing OPC standards that has been designed by the OPC Foundation to
supplement, but not obsolete the existing OPC standards such as DA, HDA, & A&E. OPC UA is being designed to make enterprise level integration easier, while insuring compatibility and
interoperability with existing OPC DA, HDA, and A&E servers and clients. There are a lot of great things about OPC UA, but it is a lot to get your arms around. We know because Software
Toolbox has been active in the OPC UA standards development process and has seen what's there. It's a lot!
So over the coming weeks and months, we'll be publishing information here that will help to inform you about OPC UA as well
as our plans for OPC UA products. Read this paper for a good start on learning more on OPC UA.
How is Software Toolbox involved in the OPC UA Effort?
Like many leading OPC Foundation member companies, Software Toolbox has contributed developer resources to the OPC
UA effort in numerous ways and continues to be a part of this important standards effort:
- Active in the OPC UA Early Adopter's committee
- Developing the OPC UA test cases for compliance
- Developing the OPC UA documentation
- Active in the OPC UA Compliance committee
- Co-Developer and trainers in the OPC Road Show series, educating users around the US on OPC technologies, present and future.
- Participated first public demonstration of early OPC UA concepts at ISA2005
