Since the original release, there have been numerous enhancements to this product. Wedgelink is used to read in data from scales, barcode scanners, gages and many other instruments that standard "off-the-shelf" communications drivers are not available. WedgeLink allows you to transfer information from the serial port to applications such as Microsoft Excel, quality control software, or any other application that accepts keyboard input. WedgeLink can be used with any 32-bit Windows application that accepts keyboard input. WedgeLink makes your application think that the information coming from the serial port is actually being entered through the keyboard. WedgeLink allows you to parse the serial port data so that only the information that you need gets sent to your application. In many cases, all you have to do to use the WedgeLink keyboard wedge program is to identify the application to receive the serial port data and to specify the serial port parameters. Data parsing is also available if you need to remove unwanted information or add information (date, time, cursor movement, etc.). You can also specify commands to send to your serial port device. These commands can be sent each time you press the send button or can be configured to be sent on a regular interval (.5 to 86,400 seconds). To assist you in understanding what is being sent from your serial device and to checkout your parsing setup, several thoroughly documented checkout and test functions are available. Data Parsing The data parsing functions allow you to do the following: Specify a prefix string to add to the beginning of each data packet Specify a suffix string to add to the end of each data packet Add the date and/or time to the data packet Delete unwanted characters or character positions Insert strings before or after specified character positions Discard strings that do not contain the specified match string Replace specified characters with a unique string Test the parsing functions by simulating the input from the serial port NOTE: If you do not need these Data Parsing functions, Wedgelink Lite offers the same functionality as Wedgelink Standard at a lower price point than Wedgelink Standard.
