The driver is completely integrated into the TOP Server just like any other driver in the TOP Server family - the difference is that you configure the UCON driver to use a specific protocol you setup to talk to your device. Now there is a solution. The UCON driver enables you to quickly and easily develop communications drivers for any serial device or ethernet device. Designed as a driver plug-in, UCON is completely integrated with the TOP server. This integration insures that all of the features and functions you depend on in the TOP Server are available for your own driver projects. Features such as OPC 1.0 and 2.0 support with tag browsing, automatic tag database generation, DDE support, NT/2000/XP service support, packet level diagnostics, and event logging are included. Since the TOP Server has native interfaces to Wonderware InTouch (FastDDE + SuiteLink) and Intellution iFix (NIO) to complement the OPC, AdvanceDDE, and DDE interfaces you can be confident you can connect your UCON built driver to just about any HMI client in the optimal way for that client. UCON also supports all of the features found in any of the TOP Server standard serial drivers. Features such as modem support, communication port configuration, standard error handling features with configurable retries and timeouts, and the TOP Server´s built-in communications diagnostic display. Once you develop a communications driver profile, your users can make changes to common settings such as serial port number or device ID without changing the profile.
