When you buy a TOP Server Alarms & Events Plug-in License you get all the TOP Server built-in features.
The TOP Server includes an OPC Alarms & Events interface to the TOP Server’s Event Log as a standard feature. Now, with the optional OPC Alarms & Events Plug-in, you can configure custom alarm and event conditions as close to the source of data as possible: in the communications server!
Now, third-party OPC AE Client applications can receive and monitor process alarms, operator actions, informational messages and tracking/audit messages, along with Event Log information, directly from TOP Server’s standard OPC AE interface. Monitor areas of processes that may require operator attention when a defined threshold his met, such as: safety limits, event detection and abnormal operations.
Creating alarms is as simple as browsing existing TOP Server tags and selecting the tag that will be used as the monitored item for the alarm source. After the tag source is chosen, Alarms & Events conditions and sub-conditions can be defined.
When these conditions and sub-conditions are met, an alarm will be sent to any connected OPC AE Client. Your OPC AE client handles providing the user with unique alarm input, output and acknowledgement messages.
