What is a .NET Container?
A Container is a development platform that supports the inclusion of .NET components into their development environments, such as the Symbol Factory .NET component. Visual Studio 2005, 2008 and 2010 are .NET Containers, while Visual Basic 6 is not.
In addition, Visual Studio 2003 is not supported, as Symbol Factory .NET requires Framework 2.0 and above.
What other .NET containers support Symbol Factory .NET?
As the .NET market matures, other containers will claim support for .NET components. Although we cannot test each and every .NET container, we encourage you to give Symbol Factory .NET a try in your application. Symbol Factory .NET requires .NET Framework 2.0. If your container meets this requirement, odds are that it should work for you.
Some known .NET containers are:
- Wonderware InTouch 10 ArchestrA Symbol Editor. We do not recommend using Symbol Factory .NET in this container. However, we suggest you have a look at our Symbol Factory ArchestrA product, which has been developed specifically for InTouch 10.
